Tourist activity in Bulgaria in the last month of 2022 increased compared to the same period in 2021.

The news of the Bulgarian Telegraph Agency (BTA) included a statement from the National Statistical Institute (NSI).

Accordingly, the trips of Bulgarians abroad in December 2022 increased to 604,700, which is 9.7% more than in the same period of the previous year.

The trips of foreigners to Bulgaria over the same period increased by 60.3 percent, reaching 761,900 people.

Rumen Draganov, director of the Institute for Analysis and Evaluation in Tourism, evaluated the data announced by the NSI BTA.

Draganov noted that the number of flights to and from the cities of Sofia, Varna, Burgas and Plovdiv has increased, and it has become difficult to find tickets.

Noting that most Bulgarians, Italians, Spaniards, French and Scandinavians fly on these flights, Draganov said that Bulgaria is increasingly becoming a country of four-season tourism.

Draganov stated that the number of tourists coming to Bulgaria increased by 10 percent in the last quarter of 2022 compared to the same period in 2019.

Pointing out that 10 percent of the 761,900 foreign tourists who came to Bulgaria in December 2022 opted for ski tourism, Draganov said ski resorts are maximizing every opportunity to provide artificial snow.

Draganov recalled that some ski resorts in Austria, Italy, Switzerland and France were closed due to warm weather.
