Although a high-level delegation from Ukraine is expected to visit Munich, Christoph Heusgen, chairman of the Munich Security Conference, said that Russian officials were not invited to the conference.

Heusgen stated that “Russian President Vladimir Putin and his government’s propaganda will not be included in the conference” and that many well-known opposition figures from Russia were invited.

Explaining that no one from Iran had been invited to represent the government, Heusgen said Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi would attend the conference.

Like every year, various groups will hold demonstrations on Saturday to protest against the conference. More than 4,000 police officers will be on duty in and around the hotel where the meetings take place to ensure the safety of participants.
