Iran admitted that it enriches uranium by 84%. Last Minute WORLD headlines and events
Today, for the first time, Iran has explicitly admitted to the accusation that it achieved 84 percent purity in its uranium enrichment process.
Enriching uranium to 84 percent purity means it will bring Iran closer than ever to obtaining material used to make nuclear weapons.
The event, which was published on a news site linked to senior Iranian government officials, renewed pressure on Western countries to respond to Tehran’s nuclear program.
Iran’s nuclear program was brought under control by the 2015 deal, but America’s involvement in the deal was ended by former President Donald Trump.
The news that Iran admitted to enriching uranium with a purity of 84 percent was published on the Nur Haber website, which is associated with the Supreme National Security Council chaired by Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei.
Nur Haber was sanctioned by Canada for “participating in massive and systematic human rights violations and disinformation activities in order to legitimize the repression and punishment of his citizens by the Iranian regime” during the national protests in Iran.
Iran for a long time did not directly accept the accusations of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that Iran is enriching uranium to a purity of 84%, and made controversial comments.
On Sunday, Bloomberg reported for the first time that IAEA inspectors had found particles of uranium enriched to 84 percent purity. The IAEA, headquartered in Vienna, did not deny the news, but simply stated that “the IAEA is discussing with Iran the results of its latest verification activity.”
Nur Haber called on the IAEA “not to succumb to the provocations of Western countries” and said that Iran’s nuclear program is “absolutely peaceful.”
Nur Khaber on his Twitter account said: “Whether the IAEA’s stunning report that Iranian uranium enrichment facilities contain 84% pure enriched uranium particles is a matter of time, is it an auditor’s error, or is it a deliberate move to create anti- The political atmosphere in Iran before the board meeting will clear up.”
The Committee, which oversees the activities of the IAEA and consists of representatives from different countries, will meet in Vienna on March 6.
The IAEA did not respond to his request for comment on the Nur Haber statements.
It is unclear where Iran enriched uranium to 84 percent purity. However, the IAEA announced that it had discovered two systems created by linking advanced IR-6 centrifuges at Iran’s Ferda underground facility.
The IAEA noted that these systems “are interconnected in a completely different way, as Iran reported to the IAEA in November last year.”
Iran was known to be enriching uranium to 60 percent purity at its nuclear facility at Ferd. Experts said that this level has no civilian purpose for Tehran.
Iran is also enriching uranium at its nuclear facility at Natanz.
The purity of uranium needed to produce nuclear weapons is 90 percent. The IEAE president warned that Iran now has enough enriched uranium to produce “a few” nuclear bombs if it wants to. But it will take months to create a nuclear weapon and reduce it to the size of a missile.
Netanyahu threatens military action
New tensions over Iran’s nuclear program have coincided with a period in which the shadow war between Iran and Israel has spread to other parts of the Middle East.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who advocates military action against Iran, reaffirmed the issue in a speech this week.
Netanyahu threatened to use military action against Iran, as in the past the destruction of the nuclear programs of Iraq and Syria.
Netanyahu said: “How to stop a rogue state from getting a nuclear weapon? Saddam Hussein had Iraq, he was stopped by our military might. There was the second country to receive a nuclear weapon, Syria. She was also stopped by our military might. ”
“Strong military action is necessary and often sufficient. The longer you wait, the harder it gets. We have waited too long,” the Israeli Prime Minister said.
War did not break out as a result of Israel’s interference in the nuclear programs of Iraq and Syria. However, Iran has a large military arsenal of ballistic missiles, UAVs and other weapons. These weapons have been used in the Middle East by Iran and its allies.
