China to donate 200,000 euros for the security of nuclear facilities in Ukraine

Ambassador Li Song of the Permanent Delegation of China in Vienna announced at a board meeting of the International Atomic Energy Agency on March 6 his decision to donate 200,000 euros to ensure the security of nuclear facilities in Ukraine.

Informing about the meeting, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Mao Ning recalled that China has always attached great importance to the issue of nuclear security and actively participated in international cooperation in this field, and continued as follows:

“Recently, in a position paper that we published on the Ukrainian crisis, we openly stated that we oppose armed attacks on peaceful nuclear facilities and support the constructive role of the IAEA in this regard.”

Mao’s spokesman said the donation supports the IAEA’s efforts to secure nuclear facilities in Ukraine and stressed that China, together with the international community, is determined to establish a fair, cooperative and mutually beneficial international nuclear security system.
