China is building one of the largest bridges in CambodiaA major project has been approved to connect the banks of a river in the Chetr Borei region in Cambodia’s eastern province of Kratie. A major project has been approved to connect the banks of a river in the Chetr Borei region in Cambodia’s eastern province of Kratie. According to the Khmer Times, the bridge, 1,761 meters long and 13.5 meters wide, will open in 2026. Most of the $114 million will be borne by China. To connect the bridge with the main transport routes, 32 kilometers of road will be built.
At the groundbreaking ceremony, Cambodian leader Hun Sen praised the excellent relationship with China and thanked Beijing for funding important infrastructure projects in the kingdom.
This year, Cambodia and China are celebrating the 65th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations. China has long supported infrastructure investment in Southeast Asia and Africa.
