$1.44 billion investment in natural gas from Norway – WORLD

Norwegian state energy company Equinor and its partners have announced that they will invest $1.44 billion in the Irpa natural gas field in the Norwegian Sea.The project aims to export 20 billion cubic meters of natural gas to Europe. Irpa, formerly known as Asteriks, is one of the deepest natural gas fields in the Norwegian Sea with a depth of 1,300 m. power, and will also help prolong the life of the Hunstin region. Production is expected to start in the last quarter of 2026 and continue until 2039. Daily natural gas production is still unknown: 51 percent of the license in the Irpa region is owned by Equinor, 20 percent by Petoro, 19 percent by Wintershall and 10 percent by Shell.
